J & M Tile, Granite & Marble was established from humble beginnings with an emphasis on family ties and small business ethics. Javier Moreno, owner and chief operator of J & M, immigrated to the United States from Bolivia in April, 2001. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration before his move to the United States - where he settled briefly in Miami and learned construction from the ground up as an assistant.

After two years in Miami, Javier moved to Northern Virginia in search of community, where he found a large Bolivian population - which became much like an extended family. He began working with tile at JUD Tile Corp., a company still alive and well in Vienna, VA. Javier always harbored a dream of having his own business - and with the expertise he built throughout his life, he started J & M in 2005. The company survived the recession of the late 2000’s, and Javier moved from commercial work to residential work in Prince William County. Javier had a desire to help people who could not afford new homes in the post-recession market (with banks making home loans very difficult) - people who sought to make their homes and lives beautiful on a budget.

The money that Javier makes supports his workers, his family, and goes directly back into improving the business - creating an intimate and personal customer experience. Javier has always endeavored not only to find, but to serve his community - as he believes that family is both inside and outside of the house. Yet this house serves to provide a resting place, a place of food, friendship, and connection - in a world where these things are often quite difficult to find.
